|
|
Hello,
I am a new member and was wondering what the best way to sell a small collection of registers might be? Are auctions worth it? Should I just take them to a antique shop? I would like to sell them to some one who really appreciates these wonderful machines. Any suggestions would be welcomed!
Thanks! |

| What registers do you have? I may make a difference on the number and type (make and model) of registers you have. |

| I have five registers from 1903 through the 1920's or 30's. I was thinking I ought to try and find out how much they may be worth before I try to sell them. I would hate to "give" them away. Any tips for trying to find out a fair market value? |

This thread is useless without photos
It is also useless without serial and model numbers
Just my 2 cents. |

Hello everyone,
Please follow the link!
https://sites.google.com/site/registers247/
This has all of the most current info and some photos.
Any input on what they are currently valued at would be greatly appreciated. If you can not offer any advice on current or “potential” value might anyone suggest a place I could go to and find out?
Thank you everyone so far you all have been a real great help! |

Hi,
Why don't you go on Ebay and see what these things sell for on Ebay.
This way you will get a nice price range and a decent idea what they may be worth.
I hope this helps you a little bit.
Are you a dues paying member of this club??? |

| I have been hitting ebay on and off. My big questions are how does shipping effect price? And second, would UPS or FeDEX even ship something like a register? I would assume so but I do not know for sure! |

I might make you an offer
fedex and UPS and you are asking for trouble . 50% chance of damage. |

Ups is a bad idea, I just got one shipped fedex and it was fine. I lost 2 victrolas the same day with ups. You would do best selling them on eBay, shipping is really no big deal, and alot of people pick up. _________________ Robert Price |

I would be interested in buying one or two or all of the registers.
Call me if serious. 908-295-2320
Otherwise if you need any more advice just keep asking on this web site.
You do get a few members that will respond one way or the other.
Regards,
Mike |

I have shipped via FedEx Ground and have had good results at a fair price. I agree with Bob, UPS seems to be awful rough on their packages. I think it has to do with the automated sorting system they have.
The best way to ship is to have it professionaly packed by a packaging and shipping store. THat way it is insured, and they did the packing, so it will be covered by the insurance of however they ship it.

Hello everyone,
Thanks for all of the information on shipping. That's cool that the President of the club has a trucker to help with the shipping. If I need help with shipping, trust me you'll be the first I email for help!
On a bit of a more serious note I can not find any real good info for my model 244-B register. Any one feel like offering up any info on it or at least pointing me in the direction I ought to look?
I can't tell you all how cool I think this website is!
Thank you one and all for all of your input! |

|
|
The trucker who is also a personal friend of mine after so many years is Scott Hay. He owns Touch of Grey trucking and antiques.
He is in North Dakota as we speak on his way to Maine from Portland, Oregon.
He will be on route 94 from The Dakotas to St Paul, Mn then Milwaukee and so on.
His phone number is -207-380-5631.
I do not know why you would not use him to transport heavy cash registers or anything else of value or expensive.
Call him for rates to your location . He is always traveling somewhere in the USA.
Door to door safe delivery.
Personally I only ship my registers via Fedex when I have no other choice.
I am kind of tired of packing these things to try to avoid damage. They are getting too heavy .
They all go on conveyor belts at UPS and Fedex so keep that in mind..
But what do I know.
Love you all.
Have fun collecting. |
