I was recently contacted by a person in my hometown who used to restore cash registers. He quit working on registers nearly 20 years ago and he put the unrestored projects in his garage and had not touched them since. I ended up buying eight machines, two original and three reproduction top signs from him. The machines are rough and in need of a lot of work but there are some desirable models to restore. They include a 313, 12, 5, 8, 50 narrow top, 250, 349-2-2 and a 452. I have a lot of work/fun to do.

I am not sure how unusual this is but the model 12 is an eighty-five cent ring up. The register is nickel plated and missing the solid top which I know will be hard to find. If anyone has one that they would sell please email me. I will try to attach a couple of pictures.

Might have a solid top for a model 5. Does it look like this?

Hello Poolmandoug, Many years ago, I purchased a nickel plated model #12. The entire register was red bronze underneath the nickel with the exception being the solid top. The solid top was made of aluminum. When I restored the machine, I got lucky and found an original solid "red bronze" top so I now have a beautiful restored model #12 in red bronze. I have the aluminum solid top still in my possession, so if you are going to keep your register in nickel, I will gladly send it to you - no charge. The aluminum solid top matched the nickel plated model #12 perfectly. Let me know if you would like me to send the top to you.
