What is the best gold leaf for my antique brass cash register?

I have a national cash register model 415 that I want to gold leaf want more of a antique look to the cabnit so what is the best gold leaf that will last a long time that won't wreck the brass?

It does have green on it but it works which is a plus from being from 1902!

Saw that date under the cash drawer but need tips on gold leafing & what would work!!
