Pin Removal on a Model 441 was created by PlaneGuy
Hey All,I am trying to remove a pin on a model 441 so that I can remove the left-most key bank. I have hit it pretty good a few times and it doesn’t seem to be moving. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove it? I am trying not to wail on it too hard because I don’t want to mushroom the end of it. Also, I am hitting it from the rear of the machine because that is what is shown in Dick’s repair videos. I would appreciate any help people could offer. Thanks all!Blake

I have never watched Dicks videos, but I have never had to remove that pin to remove the left side keys. Why are you wanting to remove? Just for cleaning or is there a problem?

No problems, just wanted to polish up the rings and stems. I thought I needed to remove that pin so you could swing that metal part that catches the rods on the key stems. I guess I can just loosen the lower rail and rotate the key stem out? That would sure be easier!

You can remove the key stems on the left side just like you did on the right side all from the front. You may need to remove a cotter pin on the upper right corner.

You were right, definitely a pain to get them back in correctly but they turned out pretty good. Thanks for the help!
