Excellent description John.
Also, when I reinstall the detail adder mechanism I find it is a good practice to place a small wooden item across under all the stems to hold the spring loaded latches in the open position so the mechanism drops right back in place.
We need more items like this one provided by John Arito.

Thanks for the explanation. Was really helpful for taking out the arms of a model 230 I recently found.
Does anyone have some (+-15) detail adder arms with decent nickle plating laying around?

Is there a procedure description somewhere for the removal of Total Adder arms?

I have many detail adder key stems available. don't know about the plating though.
I can remove and replace total adder arms in a 313 in about 30 minutes. I have sets all ready re nickeled so as I remove a stem I replace it with a replated one. there is an easy way to remove them but difficult to explain here. You do NOT have to remove either side panel.
