Drawers was created by 57nomad
I picked up a old signature # 2 in rough shape and some drawer parts inside that were in even worse shape. I couldn't help to notice the sides of the drawer were joined differently from the rest of the early machine drawers that were dovetailed to the fronts. The sides were also cut to accomadate the side rails in either location. I am wondering is this a old factory rebuilt drawer , because I have come across this before and just thought someone over time installed what ever they had that fit. Has anyone found this style in a early machine before?

Is it an "S" machine.

If they redid a register that originally had the higher rails, they would recut a new drawer to take the higher ones as the early style wasn't made any more.

Does it have the "2" shield tag?

If it does, it is an "S" machine.

Hey Jack, while we're on the factory rebuild topic. There is a early fine scroll Cranker on eBay that has a rebuild # on it and wondering what sort of improvements N.C.R. Made to the 79 . I noticed this one has the beauty strips that go onto the base of the key checks, I have not seen these on early fine scroll crank machines. I will post a photo of if from eBay.
