In the early 1990s I purchased a small NCR Model 50 from a home in Valley City, Ohio that had a raised letter lid plate that said Hotel Victory. The seller said the register was found in the attic when they bought the home 45 years earlier, and that Hotel Victory was a 850 room hotel built on Put-n-Bay Island in the late 1890s and burned down in the early 1900s.

A google search shows many articles and photo's of Hotel Victory. The Hotel Victory was built on South Bass Island near Put in Bay, Ohio by James K. Tillotson and a group of investors opening in 1892. It was once one of the largest hotels in America but it was destroyed by fire in August 1919.

Always nice to know the history of old cash registers.
