I dropped off a beautiful original brass National cash register model 332 at a fedex store .
The buyer paid FedEx to PACK and ship the cash register from New Jersey to Louisville, Kentucky.
From one FedEx store to another FedEx store for pick up at the store!!!!!
They did a bad job packing ithe cash register.
They also dropped the register along the way and damaged it
Unbelievable!!!!!!!

The ups stores have a pack and ship guarantee, if they pack and ship it, they guarantee it will not be damaged or you will receive a full refund including the insured value and also cost of the packing and shipping.

I have shipped my last 5 register via the UPS stores. I let them pack it & every one has arrived safe. In the past, I did my own packing & they always destroyed it & would never pay the claim.
I have had good results with FedeX but am getting to old to do my own packing. The store that packs mine said not to file a claim but call the store & they will file it so that it gets paid quick.
The guy called me for help but he said some of the drawer cast iron frames were broken so I cried with him.

I will never ship a register or have one shipped to me. I have only ever sold one register. It was to a guy in australia. He paid a handsome fee for shipping and paid me (I am a carpenter) to crate it. I built a solid plywood box with 1 1/2" internal framing material and then I lined the whole box interior with solid 2" thick foam board which I also used as shimming to keep it from moving at all. Incredibly the registet arrived to the guy totally damaged. Neither of us could believe it and he confirmed that it was incredibly packed. They must have dropped this thing from a roof top!
