Today I went to pick up a 313 I bought on ebay yesterday for 203.00. It was in a clothing store next to the Hollywood wax museum on Hollywood blvd. They also had a 500 class with no wood base, missing the printer mech and cover. It had sold on ebay for 56.00, and 1 Brandt automatic coin change machine (they had another duplicate when I arrived), and 1 model 3 Michigan in very nice condition which also sold on ebay. When I arrived, they were all offered to me for a cheap price. they said they had a couple more machines in the storage room of the store. I went and looked and saw a bronze 317, and a wood Seymour cash register. The machines that sold on ebay were sold to someone in Florida and had no way to pick them up..So I bought everything, except for the 500 class which I didn't want to lift, for 400.00.
see pics below:
Now after loading the 313 and the 2 Brandt coin changers I put the Michigan on my cash register rolling table and headed out the front door of the clothing store. There was a metal threshhold on the ground where the door closes and I hit it hard and fast, the table stopped rolling, the cast iron Michigan went flying onto the Hollywood Walk of Fame with me flying over the table and landing on it and the Michigan with all the flying broken glass that was in it. 100's of people walking by and I am laying in a heap staring at Bing Crosbies star in the sidewalk. The security guard helped me up and he said "Let me load these". I have not looked at my shins yet . Now if you dropped a cast iron Michigan on its back on a sidewalk don't you think it would be all busted? But to my surprise there wasn't even a mark on it or anything cracked, How does that happen?. so he then loaded the Seymour and the bronze 317 for me..Stop laughing--- If anyone is interested in any of these machines Lets make a deal...

Sorry, The story of my find isn't quite as interesting as Bob's. I found these at a small auction. The scroll ticket box is stamped number 11 and has the original glass.

Dep, great story and finds.

Todd, did your scroll box come from a Texas auction? If not then there were two auctions this month with scroll boxes. I bid on the one pictured but lost. Didnt go too high as i have two already.

Great stories from both Todd and Dep.

Enjoyed reading about them and thanks for sharing .

Bob old age is creeping up fast . Be careful and slow down.

The only two times i fell carrying cash registers was when i was in a hurry and walking too fast.

I learned my lesson after the second time when i dropped a 1000 class while moving it in my garage.

The first one dropped was a model 332 on my kitchen floor when carrying it out of the house in a rush for a show and tell at one of my kids classes in elementary school.

The hole in the Linoleum was there for many many years !
