I am restoring a model 1080 for a local business. It is a new 100 class machine. Painted black. The department key checks are screwed on not pressed on like the dollar and cent key checks. I have talked to Bob and Todd and the have never seen any of these. Has anyone?

A lot of machines had the screw on key caps in the clerk or department rows so they could be changed or replaced. You will see them on the 500/900 series on the 3 trip keys. The early 1900 had them in these 2 rows. they later went to the rivet ones which were perminent..

I saw a 1000 class today at a movie prop house today where I was repairing their non working machines, and the entire left row had screw on caps and roman numbers I-IX. It was a painted black machine
