  • WANTED: Cash Registers from Family Businesses was created by Daniel Ojserkis
My name is Daniel S. Ojserkis, and the "S" stands for Sigmund. In the first half of the 20th century (approx. 1902 to 1944) my great uncle, Sigmund Ojserkis, owned several businesses in Atlantic City, NJ. Here are the names:

-- Boardwalk Bank (or Boardwalk National Bank)
    -- Boardwalk Securities
    -- Schlitz Hotel
    -- Kuehnle's Hotel
-- The Smoker's Paradise (in AC, Phila. and NYC)
-- S. Ojserkis & Co. (his holding company)
-- William I. Segal (fruits and vegetables)

I was never a vintage register collector before, but a few years ago I found and bought an NCR Model 67 with the "S. Ojserkis & Co." faceplate (see pictures attached). My older brothers insist that they remember seeing more of these machines in the area when they were kids, so for several years I've been a CRCC member, searching (unsuccessfully, so far) for THOSE registers!

I'M LOOKING FOR ANY REGISTERS (OR TOPSIGNS OR FACEPLATES) -- REGARDLESS OF CONDITION -- WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE NAMES ON THEM (or any portion or variation of such names). I don't know what finish they would have, but I'm told that at least some of the other registers were brass, and not cast iron.

Thank you for any help you can offer. If you have any thoughts or want to discuss my search, please reply and I'd be happy to contact you offline, if you'd like.

    Sincerely, Dan Ojserkis
