A few months ago someone contacted me saying they can make the Detail Adder Wheel Strips. Could that person please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. I would like to restore a few NON NCR registers, and need to locate a source for such items. Also, is there anyone out there that makes colored key checks with different wording i.e. Bath, Room, Beer, Wine, Liquor, and etc? Sever years ago I used HBAC for these items but I will be polite and simply say NEVER AGAIN.

Thanks Bob. I'm looking for a variety of color checks to match color flags and detail adder strips on the non NCR machines. These checks are 3/4" and fit nicely into the key rings without having to center. They add color to the usually bland non NCR registers. I'm going out this afternoon to see if I can have some made locally. I find it a royal pain in the ass to get something done because people don't listen and follow instructions and expect me to be happy with an inferior product. Several years ago I bought some expensive color key checks from HBAC and it took months and months to have them delivered. I had to listen about the complexity of the project, and how they were sent out several times, and how the Jasper post office keeps losing out going mail. $2.00 a key check wasn't a bargain by any means, but I didn't mind paying it because I wanted the item, I just anticipated them arriving much sooner and without all the bullshit excuses.

Recently I had insert signs made for the two glass model 5 sign frames I bought from you. One place called fast signs took eight weeks and did a so so job. Another place took 10 weeks, did a better job except the length of the sign was a 1/4" less in width. They used the printable surface instead of factoring in 1/8" on each side to fit in the frame. My drawing included the correct measurements, and I even left them a frame with glass to try the signs out to make sure they fit. At least they could have laid it against the glass. Guess they were in a hurry and it only took them ten weeks to do it incorrectly. Oh well, that is business in today's world.

Found a local source for my desired 3/4" specialized color key checks. Hopefully, the finish product will turn out nice.

What type of place do you go to in order to have them custom made? A sign shop? I have a few that I need made for a Model 452 that came out of Brazil so they need to be in Portuguese. Unfortunately I only need a few of them so they will probably cost a ton.

Nav, I make my own detail strips for the NCR detail adders and my own key checks, both paper and glass. I can make the paper ones any color and any size diameter. I can also resize the detail strips to any size that you want. Give me a call, Gene Braddock, 407-920-1030.

Thanks Gene. I will call late this afternoon or early evening when I figure out what all I exactly need. I'm set on the key rings having placed an order yesterday.

    Hi Milton,

Sorry to hear you are not coming to the April Show. If your friend from Australia will be passing thru Ohio tell him to contact me. I am 14 miles due south of the City of Cleveland, and three miles from Exit 11 of the Ohio Turnpike.

I'm in need of detail adder strips. I can't rely on, nor will I do any business, with the HBAC group, and they are the only people I know of making these detail adder strips. However, a lady in my Veterans Service Dog Group works at a family screening business and is making me some specialize key checks in 3/4" round that will fit the Detroit Cash Register Works and American/Hallwood Registers. Now if her key checks are good, I will have her make me some detail adder strips.

What I need are strips from ,01 to $20.00, plus the 1, 2, 3, 4,5, 6 and etc strips for the No Sale or other specialty ring ups.

Strips should be the same length, approximately 8 3/8" as the National Strips.

Width of the strips should be 7/16" instead of the NCR 3/8" width.

Spacing of the numbers should be 3/8" instead of NCR 1/4" spacing. Thus, in 3/4" there will be two amounts on the off brand strips, compared to three amounts on the NCR strips.

Please let me know if you can help me out, or need any more info. Easier for people like us to do the grunt work, than a non register person.

Attached is a photo of three little cast iron registers, restored by the Navratil Cash Register Works, of Cleveland, Ohio
