  • The CRCC lost two members, Harry & Zit, who decided NOT to send in membership dues. These two fellows controlled the CRCC for the last eight years. But, while we lost these two, we gained a new member, Mike Morrissey from Long Island, who will more than compensate for the two mentioned guy's we lost. Mike has been collecting Brass Cash Registers since the late 1960s, and is well known among veteran collectors. Welcome aboard Mike.

Remember the CRCC Swap Meet will be held indoors at the Kane County Fair Grounds in the same building as the coin op swap meet. Set up time is 8:00 AM. Public access is 9:00 AM. If you have not yet reserved a table, please do so in advance of the meet. Table rental is $15.00.

Our club has been invited to attend the Jasper Mansion Tour on Thursday evening. I have never been there, but our members who have tell me it is well worth seeing. I sent in my reservations to attend a couple weeks ago. So my social time in the lobby will be limited to Wednesday night.

The CRCC Meeting will take place in the conference room at the Quality Inn starting at 1:00. Hopefully we will have a good showing. The lady who use to manage the Quality Inn is now across the street at the Best Western Motel. She offered the club a lower room rate than the Quality Inn, and I will ask that some of you check out the Best Western and see if you would like to switch. Personally, I am satisfied with the Quality Inn because it has a spacious lobby, good parking, comfortable beds, a good breakfast, and they provide us the option of doing the swap meet in their parking lot which could be vital if the arrangement at the Kane County Fairgrounds ends.

Quality Inn has given us a club rate of $79.00 a night. Management agreed to my request to match the on line rate if the on line rate is lower than the club's discount rate.

    See you soon

  • While I do live in the south and not able to attend the meet, I am anew member and wish to be recognized as such. I am a former NCR Service tech, and was trained on all the electro-mechanical machines, in addition to postronics, computronics, 41s 42s, the sorter, and some 315/390 gear. Please acknowledge.

  • WELCOME on board RIC. Nice to have another former NCR repair person in our ranks. Dick Witcher who writes the TECH TALK articles in our newsletter is also a retired NCR Technician like yourself and has contributed greatly to the success of the our club. Hopefully you can make one of our future events. We meet twice a year, November & April, in St. Charles, Illinois the Thursday before the three day Chicagoland Coin Op Show. I am glad you spoke up. As new club president I don't know all the new members on the list because so many members join, never post, and never attend a swap meet or meeting, and remain on the list as a member. Now we know who you are and encourage you to follow and post on the web site. The hobby is more fun if one knows other individuals who also collect cash registers. I will include your name and the name of all new members in the next issue of the Bronze Idol Newsletter.
