I have never really replaced any veneer before in a drawer but this one is so bad I have too. What type of wood is the best to use? Thanks.

If the drawer is in bad condition and their is not a tag on the bottom your trying to save, I usually replace with 1/4” African mahogany.
Otherwise a mahogany veneer will work well to dress it up

The drawer has a perfect tag on the bottom side that matches the register. That is why I am looking to just replace the top side.

I have purchased mahogany veneer on eBay a few times in various sizes . Get a few extra pieces, it breaks easy

One way to save the tag information is to remove the bottom and scan it with the tag on it.
Cut out the tag and glue it to the new bottom. A good scan will give an original look and the correct information.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. It turned out pretty good. I took it to menards and found the wood that best matched it. Appreciate the help.
