Does anyone have original "beveled" glass in their ticket boxes? I need the measurements of the beveled part of the glass. I have one that looks original, but the width of the beveled sides are not the same. The two opposite sides are 3/4", the third side is 5/8", and the forth is 1/2". Are they all like this? If so, why would they be different?

I have two check boxes with original beveled glass. I checked one piece of glass from each box and they are the same measurements as yours. I guess it's due to the measurement of the box as the glass is very tight once in place and with top and shoulder screws in place.

Both of my boxes have two metal sides and two pieces of beveled glass. Does yours have one metal side or two?

Also each of mine have a check box number stamped on the bottom base, top and each side. Even the hinges are stamped with the same number. One number 38 and other is 705.

My boxes also have 2 metal and 2 glass sides. Which side has the shortest beveled edge? Top, bottom, metal side, or other glass side? There are numbers stamped in mine also, it's not infront of me, but I think it was 1385. Thank you for your help.

Working today but I will check tonight. It's the side(not top or bottom)of the glass with the shortest side. Don't think it matters which side but i will try to turn it 180 degrees and see if it fits. Doesn't fit when you turn the glass 90 degrees as i did that when i put the glass back in and it was short and loose.

I have to plead ignorance. What were these little ticket boxes used for?

They are for the receipts from the printers and would go into the receipt/check box.

Todd, the larger 3/4" beveled sides go on the top and bottom and the shorter sides are on the left and right. Doesn't seem to matter which side is 5/8" or 1/2" as you can turn it 180 degrees and fits both ways. Hope this helps

Strange why they would cut them like that. I guess there had to be some reason.

The cash register prints a receipt and the customer puts the receipt in the locked box? Why?

When you bring a guest check up for payment that would normally go on a spike, not a locked box.
A movie ticket might go into a box...
A laundry ticket might be used to pick up clothing. These really wouldn't require a locked box though.

Mine is stamped 1305 on all the panels. I am going to have some of the beveled glass made if anyone needs any.

The receipt box was probably used to put receipts in after money was paid out of the takings for the day to justify why the money in the drawer was missing. Milton
